Here We Grow.......

I'm GROWING!  NO, I'm not pregnant, but I have brought on a new photographer/editor who I adore almost as much as my kiddos.

Her name is Terri and you can read about her here: Terri Voyles

Terri has been editing for me since April, which has allowed me more time for shoots and video.  I haven't had the time to market this side of my business because the KC Real Estate market pretty much exploded in February and just recently slowed down enough for me to take a breath. You can see some of my videos here:   My Videos

Having Terri on my team has allowed me to explore other areas of photography that have been on my radar but could never pursue due to time constraints.  I'm still a licensed realtor (I don't sell anymore and will fight you if you try to make me.....just ask Big Daddy) and can't seem to lose the realtor mind set. What that means is that all decisions I make with my business are based solely on what I would or wouldn't pay if I were still selling.

So, when I was recently presented with an opportunity to lease some studio space at The Studio Loft, I took it to heart and sat down with Terri, discussing our future business together.  We decided to offer Professional Portraits (Head Shots) at an affordable price for all in need of updating their face on marketing, social media, etc.  Come on, how many of you agents have a 10+ year old picture on your business card?  Y'all know who you are?  I do, too, and will be calling you very, very soon.

My introductory offer is $50.00 for one head shot and $75.00 for two.  Send me an email and I'll forward you the full price sheet.

Here's a preview of a few of the photos taken in studio recently.

Some of you might remember Terri from her days of taking head shots for realtors/brokers all over the city - she's looking forward to seeing your lovely mugs again.  You'll also get a chance to meet her while she shadows me, learning the ins-and-outs of shooting the non moving targets.

In the meantime, I welcome all phone calls, emails or texts.  I've already started setting appointments in the studio and hope to have a full book by the end of August.

Peace, love and pretty faces,

Dawn Conners

Big Beautiful Skies Coming Your Way......

Hey gang,

Who doesn't hate those ugly overcast days when we're rushing around, trying to get a house on the market?  I know how frustrating it is to show up to a beautiful home only to have mother nature give me the finger.  GAH!

I've spent the week working on learning how to do sky replacement and wanted to give you an example of how they turned out.  I'm still working on the finer details and will add this service to my price sheet after I've worked it all out.  In the meantime, you can find me taking my own stock images of skies throughout the heartland - I had to pay $29.00 just for these two......PHFT!

The first image is the original and the bottom two are replacement.

As always, I welcome and appreciate your feedback.

Happy Easter weekend to you all!

Peace, Love and Chocolate (bunnies),

Dawn

New Marketing for the KC Real Estate Market

Hi Gang,

I'm rolling out some new marketing and wanted you to take a peek to see for yourself.  I'm currently offering video for all forms or real estate (commercial, residential, multi-family and retail) and working towards bigger and brighter things in the coming months.

You can view a sample by clicking on the following link:  http://youtu.be/WL7KqbugMv4

My focus is to create the emotion of a space in the time one has to view a video, average - 90 seconds.  This type of videography will enhance your marketing, improve your brand, which in turn grows your business.

Let's face it, all first time showings are on line and if you want to make it on the short list of homes to tour then always put your best foot forward, showing the buyer exactly how the house feels before they ever step foot in it.  *quemoodlightingandmusic*

I'm sending out pricing information to all current clients and adding a link to my website soon. In the meantime, please feel free to email or call if you have any questions.

Peace, love and chocolate,

HOTW.........You Gotta Read To Find Out

Hey Gang,

I thought this would be the best way to quickly announce a small change in my marketing.  I've always posted previews of every single home I shoot on my FB page; however, the spring market is already upon us and I find myself getting further and further behind.  When that happens I tend to flood your walls with pictures, and according to online marketing rules that's a big no-no.  And it totally stresses me out.

Beginning this week (02/03/14 - 02/07/2014) I will be posting a "House of the Week" every Friday unless requested otherwise by the client.  I get to determine the HOTW based on anything from WOW factor, architecturally awesomeness, my angles and composition ROCKED,  I thought the house smelled good, or someone made me laugh.  I base all decisions on emotion.  ;)

Thanks for stopping in and catching up.  I have a few more changes to announce this spring, but I'm still working on the details......stay tuned.

I hope everyone is staying warm.

Blessings, Peace, Love and all of those other warm salutations,

Dawn Conners

I'm A Slacker!

Sorry For Our Mess

It's been waaaay too long since I've blogged or done anything on my website.  Truth be known, I've had little time to do much of anything except work and shuffle kids to and fro; not even ONE SINGLE VACATION this summer (I'm not bitter or anything).

Kansas City Real Estate Photography has finally caught on and every photographer I know has over-flowing schedules - a good problem to have.  Because of the growth here at Dawn Conners Photography, I felt it was time to grow my website in order to keep things fresh.  I told my web dude that I need to be able to change my website as often as I change my hair color.  I think he understood, at least I hope he did.

This last year finds me doing more Commercial and Multi Family Real Estate Photography in Kansas City.  I just finished this job and thought I'd share a pic.  I know it's only a fitness center, but it's a really cool one!!

I hope all 8 subscribers reading this blog are having a FUNtastical summer, and welcome if you happen to be new to my ramblings.

Many thanks for stopping in and taking the time to read.

Cheers,

Dawn Conners

Spit Star

One of the benefits of Real Estate Photography is that when I'm in a pinch I can almost always take our youngest to work with me.  Our little princess is 6 years old, in kindergarten, loves her teacher, music class, friends and is obsessed with ART; so obsessed that she's adorned our walls with drawings, using ink or a Sharpie, and has used her colors to add a little pizazz to the fluted columns in our home.  We've had many conversations with her about what's appropriate on which to draw and she's had consequences for the choices she's made, some of which were quite devastating for her.

I tell you this because on the last day of her holiday break from school I had to take her to work with me.  She's really a very good little girl and easy to be around, but she has this sneaky side about her that reminds me of someone I know (ahem), and apparently when I was flipping on lights, adjusting a few curtains or closing some blinds she took the liberty to create a Spit Star on my lens.  Of course it went unnoticed by me at the time, but when I got back to my computer I immediately noticed something funky about some of my images.  I went five days shooting with this spit star on my lens thinking, "What in the world is going on with my photos?!"  Why would I look at my lens?  I shoot and the lens cap goes right back on as soon as I'm finished.

So, if you happen to see any images that look something like this below, please know this is nothing more than God giving me what I deserve for my past sneakiness.  I have already accepted this lot in life and can sincerely laugh about it........for now.

(cloudy spit star under the white guided star)

Miss Grace has apologized and promised to never put a "pit thhtar" (she's missing four front teeth) on any of my lenses EVER again.

Now it's time to send this blog to all of the agents I shot for that week and offer a reshoot.

Thanks for stopping in and if you have any upcoming real estate or real estate photography needs, please don't hesitate to contact me.  I promise to leave the sneaky one behind.  :)
